A Message on Commitment, as New Commissioners Mount the Scene
As new commissioners prepare to come on board the administration of Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, it is appropriate to explain that theirs is a privilege they have to cherish.
Coming from an individual with a vision to transform Niger state, amidst and despite challenges of finance and enormity of tasks, this appointment must be seen as an uncommon opportunity, at a time when indigenes and residents of the state have realised Niger state of everyone’s dreams is a possibility, given Governor Bello’s achievements so far!
Our lucky team just emerging upon the scene of governance as commissioners must therefore pick the gauntlet, rededicate themselves to the task of supporting a process which has been the envy of nations within and outside Nigeria, and give their best to justify confidences reposed in them by Niger's number one person, the result which has been the culmination of their appointments.
The post of a commissioner is a sensitive one, one requiring a coordination of career technocrats across ministries, dfepartments and agencies (MDAs), manage resources, collate and codify seemingly disparate opinions, often through memoranda, towards presenting/suggesting operable and coherent policy objectives of the MDA, just with a view to assisting not just the governor, but entire Niger state and its people.
Our lucky team must therefore be transparent, accountable, focused, determined and selfless, and must be seen to have all these qualities. Only by this can they prove to be deserving of the appointment, only through these can they again succeed at a task which, while not impossible – given the achievements as can be seen and assessed as good and commendable – is without a doubt a great one.
One can but only wish the new comers a successful tenure in office. Welcome on board!
