ABU LOLO, SUCCEEDING BEYOND SABOTAGE
By Muhammad Nasir
Whereas the current government of Niger state ably led by his excellency Alh Abubakar Sani Bello was inaugurated at one of the most trying times of the nation, Nigeria owing to rapid drop in petrol price. A sincere political analyst shall be left with no choice than to score it above average in terms of performance based on the number of projects initiated, completed and ongoing.
That is however but to say the least as despite the efforts of the governor and his team, a lot seem to be leaking on the "bucket". Whether intentionally or unintentionally, these leakages has metamorphosed into sabotage but still, the restoration has gone be beyond words as the relieve of commissioners is a good decision, very timely and apt as I pray for the return of competent hands as well as the nomination of those who truly intends and wish Niger well.
Without ambiguity, the focal areas of the government's stewardship centers highly on education, health, accountability, youth/women empowerment, roads, students welfare and egalitarianism. All of which has been evenly spread across the three zones of the state equitably and justifiably.
But, standing the test of time is the consolidation Nigerlites must all wake to. The governor as headed abinitio has succeeded beyond sabotage but the success may not have been completely won and a better knowledge of this can be gotten on the Mokwa - Jebba and Suleja - Minna road wherein the good works are suffering abuse. Also is the perhaps supposed shabby execution of SUBEB projects by some contractors not to talk of the possibility of mobilization scams but alas, close monitoring has changed the story.
Truth be told, good roads are a major of the first impression a first time visitor will use to assess a sitting government and despite lean resources, Mr governor has without ambiguity constructed access and mobility roads more than any government since the history of the state. Away from road, the governor has option of approving for construction of new schools which he could easily use to immortalise himself but he embarked on remodelling of premier schools and MBGSC Minna and the GSSS Izom are close testimonies.
In the area of health, Mr governor has been able to true the primary health care scheme touch several lives without a backslide in agriculture wherein idealistic partnerships has begotten a very commendable MoU with the Dangote group. In the same light, story of Water has changed for the water as this government has not only made it available but put it on a high run as never experienced since the history of the state. In continuing further, youth empowerment has gone beyond sharing of material which in the past are sold out at the venue of distribution to what is better seen as youth training in choice entrepreneurship works and the list grows on.
Finally, as the state is highly anticipating the next crop of commissioners that will lead the first tenure of this two term wished government to end, it binds on all to pray that God gives Mr Governor and his inner team the fortitude and grace to name the right persons as surely, the future of the state lies in the events of today. No doubt, the government is thus far on track and with the cooperation of Nigerlites, Mr governor will get it right.
