VENTURING INTO POLITICS
Hon. Mohammed Bago yield to the clarion call to serve his people and so ventured into political pitching his tent with the newly registered political party, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) at its formative stage. He subsequently secured his Party's Nomination and went ahead to contest and soundly defeated his opponent of the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) at the 2011 National Elections. Hon. Mohammed Bago was therefore elected as Honourable Member of the House of Representatives representing Chanchaga Federal Constituency.
On inauguration in the 7th Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Bago served with diligence in the following Committee:-
1. Banking and Currency
2. Appropriations
3. Education
4. Internal Security
5. Information and Communication Technology
6. Defence
7. Loans and Debts
8. National Planning and Economic
Development
9. Media
10. Civil Societies and Donor Agencies
11. Police.
At the 8th Assembly, Hon. Bago is not a ranking Legislator and a leading figure, he also occupies the Chairmanship Committee on Maritime Safety and Administration and Education in the Federal House of Representatives. This is in addition to being a Member of the following House Committee:-
* Works
* Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
* Tertiary Education
* Information and Communication Technology.
The Hon. Member became the early sponsor of a Bill for the "Regulation of Auctioneer Practice in Nigeria" and several others that were co-sponsored.
However, during the present dispensation, Hon. Bago has already started making appreciable impact in his Constituency intervention. The Suleja to Minna road dualization project gulping the sum of N2.2billion was facilitated by the duo of Senator David Umaru and Hon. Bago and both ensured that the Projects is captured in the 2016 Budget.
